Ownership of a Bearded Dragon should be fun, to extend the longevity of this the below should be adhered to.

Daily Action

  1. Spot clean your Bearded Dragons vivarium and remove waste at once
  2. Handle your Bearded Dragon
  3. Change water if offered
  4. Feed your feeder insects daily, remove dead insects, feed insects fresh food and as your Bearded Dragon is what it eats
  5. Remove uneaten food especially crickets as they will cause stress and will nibble on your Bearded Dragon

Regular Action

  1. Give your Bearded Dragon a warm bath once a week for 10 minutes, be sure to give them something to hold onto so they feel secure
  2. Mist your Bearded Dragon with water once a week
  3. Clean your vivarium and fittings thoroughly do this as least every other month
  4. Clean the feeder insects enclosure

Handling

Handling a Bearded Dragon is not difficult as they are not the type of lizard to run off unless scared. They will happily climb on you and more than likely sit on your shoulder, which was one of Spike's favourite places. Whenever getting your Bearded Dragon out ensure that their are no loud noises and windows are closed. If your Bearded dragon goes missing it more than likely they will be under a wardrobe or a unit, they would prefer to be somewhere warm so look in these areas.

Health

Your Bearded Dragon should always be quite active if not in their vivarium they certainly should be when outside of it. If this is not the case and your Bearide seems to be lethargic and brumation is not a possibility due to their age and weather conditions try giving them a warm bath. If this does not perk your Bearded Dragon up I recommend a visit to a reptile vet who will be able to make a correct diagnosis.
